providence - 19' - directed by sophie saporosi

Through a tramway line window, the movie explores the deserted landscapes and the boggling consequences of migration and industry.
The Black country (Charleroi) in south/west Belgium, used to be an economic artery of the country until the seventies.
Southern countries like Spain, Italy or Turkey were trading workforce against raw materials.
The influx of workers was feeding the industry's needs in steel and carbon.
This tramway line still remains, between Anderlues and Charleroi, going back and forth.

original soundtrack lynn cassiers (voice, effects) jordi gorgnard (bass clarinet, woodwinds) joao lobo (drums) sophie saporosi (field recording) mix and recorded by manolo cabras - dimitri vanham director of photography - a liquid steel production 2016
